How Many Supercars Can a Woodchuck Chuck
And now for something completely different? I’d say this was a strange play on recent “keep your non-green riches a secret” trends, but it’s been in the works for a while. North Carolina State University’s craftspeople have got one amazing looking machine on their hands, and I dare say they’ve chosen the best time, (economically and green-wise,) to come this close to completion.
Check out the stats courtesy of Autoblog.
[Autoblog.com] the all-wooden car’s hand-laid bodywork had been mated with the chassis, which was awaiting installation of the twin-supercharged, 32-valve Cadillac-sourced V8 engine and six-speed rear-mounted transaxle from a modern Chevrolet Corvette. Those 600 ponies will be funneled to the rear wheels, which have center hubs made from pressed and laminated wood, naturally. Even the transverse leaf springs are made from orange osage wood.

Look Ma, No Hands!
The Cherry produces no pollution, has all electric drive, plug-in battery, adjustable driving positions, collapses for storage and could be the next generation in personal transportation… maybe. The gel padded seat hides the plug-in battery and cushions your bum. Steering is controlled by leaning - motorcycle style. Those arm rests control braking and the entire drive engine sits inside the massive front wheel. The reduced number of parts saves money and makes it easy to customize. I’ll take a Hello Kitty one please.

Getting Up While Getting Down
You new punk rockers and your graffiti skateboards! New wave, you say? No way. This skateboard is a strait up wild-style NYC modernist skateboard design. It’s an art-board, inspired by New York City “Wild Style” graffiti, but it’s also functional. Its unique shape provides lots of gawkers along with new bends, twists, and banks you’ve never experienced before.
Designer Loren Kulesus describes the unique skate experience you’d have riding the “IPSVM” board to be comparable to a convertible car. One who is used to driving a “normal” car finds driving a convertible totally wild: they’ll find the same to be true of the IPSVM board.
What kind of banks we talking about, Loren? The banks are probably totally amazing I bet. Totally amazing banks.

A Slap in the Face to Wait Artists
Those who pride themselves in balancing the flat tray above their head have had their head above the clumsy rest of us. This “Drink’Tray” has finger holes for you to grip. You can grip tight and no more spillin’ for you. Use it at home to feel like a pro, or bring it to work for restaurant madness. Like training wheels for those servicing the drunk grabby-types.
One mold, and three different color choices. Plastic. Designed at ECAL. Ø 34.
And surprise! it’s got a company that’s picked it up: Ligne Roset.

Small Home Office Idea : K Workstation
For those of you who need an original idea for a home office here is an interesting idea called K Workstation that is designed by a New York design company, MisoSoup Design. This idea is just like a compact office that will save you a lot of space. As you can see, the iMac is totally in his element on the office design, so if you are an Apple fan you might also like this design. - Via

Flexible Furniture for Decorating Small Rooms
This video is not new so I am sure some of our readers have seen it. I immediately think about the challenge in decorating small rooms and how great flexible furniture could aid in this solution. In particular, having people over is a real challenge if you lack the seating to make people comfortable. To my knowledge this product is not on the market for sale today. If someone knows other wise, let us know and we will update the article with the product link. I have to hand it to the designers on the creativity of this piece.

filumen by christian finke.
I’m really into these lights by Christian Finke, who founded his company Filumen in 1999. Since then he’s developed a noticeable aesthetic, designing minimal lighting structures often punctuated by colorful shades that are crafted in high-quality fabrics like handwoven silks. So simple and lovely.

Simple Living Wave Stool
Like the magazine says, some times “simple living” is better. That is the case in the Wave Stool from Viva Terra. This nice decorative furniture piece serves as a stool or perhaps a small table. Then again it can hold some books or other decorative accents making it a storage unit as well. In summary, the Wave Stool is subtle and flexible. I like it since it can take up a small amount of space in a room and stir the imagination of guests as to its purpose. Dimensions: 24″ x 14″ x 15.5″. Price: $249. Buy product: here.
